The different engines offered on the 2022 Mazda3

The 2022 Mazda 3 is available with three efficient and dynamic engines that can be paired to a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic, which can also be ordered with the i-Activ AWD system.
The 2.0L Skyactiv engine
The standard engine in the entry-level 2022 Mazda 3 GX is this 2.0L four-cylinder unit. With 155 horsepower and 155 lb-ft of torque, this engine gives the Mazda 3 an edge over its similarly priced rivals in terms of driving enjoyment. This engine is offered in front-wheel drive configuration with either the manual or the automatic transmissions. With the manual, this engine can return highway fuel consumption figures of only 6.4 litres per 100 kilometres in the sedan, and 6.6 litres per 100 kilometres in the hatchback.
The 2.5L Skyactiv engine
The standard engine in the GS and GT trim levels of the 2022 Mazda 3 is the 2.5L four-cylinder engine. This powertrain delivers 186 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque to the front wheels with either the manual or the automatic transmission in the hatchback, or to all four wheels with the automatic only. The manual transmission is not available with this engine in the sedan. This mid-level engine offers a great blend of fun behind the wheel and fuel efficiency with its fuel consumption figures of 6.5 litres per 100 kilometres on the highway in the sedan.
The turbocharged 2.5L Skyactiv engine
The top of the powertrain pyramid for the 2022 Mazda 3 is occupied by the turbocharged version of the 2.5L engine which is available in the GT grade models. This engine is the most powerful powerplant offered in any mainstream compact vehicle on the market and it produces more torque than many dedicated sports compacts costing much more. With 250 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque, this engine gives the Mazda 3 a decidedly sporty and refined character that makes it compare with much more premium vehicles. Despite this level of performance, this engine only burns 7.0L /100 km on the highway in the hatchback.
