Everything we know about the 2023 Mazda CX-90

Mazda has been very busy in recent months designing and preparing the arrival of multiple new sport utility vehicles. As we move towards 2023, Mazda will be unveiling a range of new SUVs including the top-of-the-line Mazda CX-90.
The 2023 Mazda CX-90 is expected to arrive on the market in early 2023, but production is expected to begin before the end of the current year. Although we don't have all of the details on the upcoming CX-90, we do have some preliminary information which we can share with you.
The new top-of-the-line Mazda SUV
The 2023 Mazda CX-90 will be a three-row, midsize SUV with space for seven passengers. Although we don't know if the CX-90 will be a replacement for the CX-9 or if both will continue next to each other in the Mazda lineup, what we do know is that the CX-90 will be the top-of-the-line Mazda SUV. It will have the most space and offer the most luxurious features. It will also offer the best performance thanks to a new turbocharged inline-6 engine.
The Mazda CX-90 will likely be the first Mazda vehicle to feature the new turbocharged 3.0-litre inline-6 powertrain which will be paired to a 48-volt mild hybrid system. This engine should deliver the kind of performance that we find in expensive and premium SUVs such as the BMW X5 and the Range Rover Sport.
We don't have all of the details on the actual horsepower numbers, but what we do know is that the horsepower and torque numbers should be higher than what we see on the current CX—9 while the fuel economy will likely be lower thanks to the mild hybrid system. The 2023 Mazda CX-90 might also get a plug-in hybrid powertrain which we also find on the CX-60 in Europe and that delivers over 300 hp.
