2023 Mazda3 vs. 2023 Honda Civic : Compact Refinement

The Mazda3 offers more than its rivals in terms of performance, but also in terms of refinement and technology. With enhanced powertrain components, unparalleled style inside and out and plenty of cargo space in both sedan and hatchback configurations, the Mazda3 offers the driver and passengers a unique driving experience no other compact car can provide.

Here, we compare the 2023 Mazda3 with the 2023 Honda Civic.

More everyday performance in the 2023 Mazda3

The Mazda3 pushes the limits of compact cat performance. Base models use an efficient four-cylinder 2.0-litre engine that boasts 155 horsepower and 150 lb-ft of torque. It is mated to a sporty 6-speed manual transmission, or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

There’s also a four-cylinder 2.5-litre engine that boasts 186 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque available in the lineup. It is available with a choice of manual and automatic transmissions, but it can also be paired with Mazda’s renowned i-Activ AWD system.

The Mazda3 GT turbo is the crown jewel of the segment. It is powered by a four-cylinder, 2.5-litre turbocharged engine that delivers up to 250 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque. This level of performance is truly unprecedented in the segment.

The Civic uses a much blander engine lineup. The base four-cylinder 2.0-litre unit only delivers 158 horsepower and 138 lb-ft of torque. The second option is more powerful, but it still peaks at 180 hp and 177 lb-ft of torque. The Si model outputs 200 horsepower and the impossible to get Type R model will go 300+ hp, but is more expensive and has much less torque than the Mazda3 GT Turbo.

The Honda Civic doesn’t offer AWD, which is a strong disadvantage in our harsh winter conditions.

The 2023 Mazda3 gives you more

On top of being more powerful and fun to drive, the Mazda3 uses the best in terms of comfort and tech. Its interior uses upscale textures and materials that surpass what the more budget-oriented Honda Civic interior supplies. The Mazda3 also provides drivers and occupants with more tech. For example, it is equipped with a standard 8.8"-wide colour display with Mazda Connect, which is much larger than the Civic’s 7-inch standard unit.

With a starting price of just over $21,000, the Mazda3 is more affordable than the Honda Civic. Come and check it out today! You can also purchase your Mazda online with us. Our representatives are waiting for your call and can answer all your questions.
