2021 Mazda3 vs. 2022 Hyundai Elantra: The Mazda3 is a Better Compact

2021 Mazda3 vs. 2022 Hyundai Elantra: The Mazda3 is a Better Compact

The Mazda3 is a symbol of sportiness and refinement in an affordable compact filled with technologies. Under the hood, it can be fitted with the best in terms of performance with reliable powertrains that will get you where you need to go quickly and efficiently.

Here, we compare the 2021 Mazda3 to the 2022 Hyundai Elantra.

The 2021 Mazda3 delivers unbeatable driving dynamics

The Mazda3 powertrain lineup focusses on delivering the perfect pairing between performance and efficiency. The GX and GS trims include a 2.0-litre four-cylinder that outputs 155 horsepower and 150 lb-ft of torque. The Elantra’s also has a 2.0-litre four-cylinder unit as a base engine, but it can only output 147 hp and 132 lb-ft of torque. Even the Elantra Hybrid model only has 139 horsepower.

The Mazda3 also lets buyers opt for a 2.5-litre four-cylinder unit that produces 186 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque. But the pièce de résistance is undoubtedly the Mazda3's third engine is a 2.5L turbocharged powerplant that generates up to 250 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque.

The only engine that can get close to this one is in the Elantra N, but it still doesn’t make enough torque to provide the same exhilarating drive, with only 289 lb-ft.

The Elantra offers a continuously variable transmission on most models, while the Mazda3, is geared with a 6-speed manual or a sporty 6-speed automatic for more enjoyment at the wheel.

The Mazda3 offers a key piece of equipment that is often a deal breaker for Canadian drivers: all-wheel drive. The Mazda3’s i-Activ AWD a system is more advanced than anything available on the market, reading the road and making decisions every second of the way to keep you and your occupants safe at all times. The 2022 Hyundai Elantra unfortunately only comes in FWD configuration.

A more refined interior in the 2021 Mazda3

The Mazda3 offers occupants a rich and comfortable environment which is assembled using refined textures and materials only found in premium vehicles. This gives the Mazda3 another edge over the Elantra, which uses more basic, budget-oriented finishes.

The 2021 Mazda3 is yours to discover. Come and see it today in our showroom. You can also shop for your car online with us. Our representatives are waiting for your call and can answer all your questions.
